California or Bust
I started this trip with so much optimism. Took my truck, an old Toyota, and headed west. Didn’t make it out of Colorado, it broke down in Grand Junction. Those rocky mountains put my truck to the test, and it failed. Not so bad though, I repaired it and wondered if heading back over the mountains towards home was the best idea. After a brief consultation with my family, we decided it would be best to return to Denver and borrow a vehicle. The next day I was back on the road. With some extra time to ponder, I decided to give some plants to a friend since I wouldn’t be in town for a while. Amy always asks me to stop and visit, unfortunately she was working the time I stopped. lol. I dropped off the plants and noticed the homemade pastries she baked for me.
I skip Utah and kept heading west. I stopped in Fernley at Fernley Liquor and Smoke at 420 E Main St. #4 Fernley, NV. 89408 My first sale. so excited I didn’t get his name.
However, I met Tyler at Hwy 420 smoke shop 1375 E Newlands Rd unit 1, Fernley, NV 89408 he even called other stores to help me out. Thanks again Tyler.
Then to Reno, NV. Where I visited with Jassy and Max at Happy Dayze Cigar and Smoke 1700 Victorian Ave. Sparks, NV 89431.
This boosted my moral. and I continued West. I smoked a joint to celebrate my early success. Only to run up on an Agriculture Check Point. I was caught off guard, did not see that coming. An SUV was ahead of me as I approached, I’m thinking, “How the Hell am I going to air this out within two hundred feet. I noticed it was as far from the booth as possible and I decided to use that tactic. As I pulled forward with the windows down, the Agent noticed that I was from Colorado and approached closer asking me if I had any fruits or vegetables. I said, I didn’t have any fruits or vegetables. but I worried my BFP’s were going to be a problem since I packed them in banana boxes. He waved me through looking past the front seat. All was good and on I continued on.
My next stop was The Smoke Station 255 CA-174 #B. Colfax, CA 95713 Shannon loved my work.
They are a crafty bunch, I see why it was voted best smoke shop and best Jewelry. It was getting dark as I descended down the mountains and I could see lights all the way to the ocean. I was floored by the sheer scale of what lay ahead f me. I looked back at google maps to verify that all those lights were to the ocean and not just Sacramento. I’ll hit up a few more shops.

My visit with Mongo. Mongo responded to a social media post of mine and I stopped by to visit with him.
I waited at a nearby strip mall parking lot for him. From there I would follow him to his home. I mentioned I was driving a black SUV. As I waited a California Police SUV, which is Black, parked a few spots down from me. And all I could do is think that Mongo will believe that I was the Law. I laughed wondering if that would happen. I don’t really know Mongo or he knows me, aside from being social media friends. He pulls up no problem and off we go to his place. He had a variety of weed and we matched each other while smoking the BFP which I’ll gladly give to him afterwards.

By the end of the day, I felt I did all I could . Most stores had closed so I found me a place to park with a view of the water, I could see a bridge in the distant, reflecting light. However, it wasn’t the golden gate bridge. The whole waterfront was parking spots and it went on for about a mile, not really. but for a long way. I parked at the far end and took some pics and smoked a bowl. As I sat there amusing myself. I watched a group of guys unloading their truck. I began to think, If they start fishing , I’m going to join them. And then the fishing poles were brought out. I got excited, I hope they like smoking weed. Well, one of them did and I ended up giving him a BFP. He promised to pay and I wanted to believe him, so I agreed he could send me the money. Turns out they were catching Sharks. I got a pic but declined to hold it knowing I was living in my vehicle for the next week. Once sufficiently high I planned my route ahead. Looks like Weed, CA. Then up through southern Oregon and south to the Redwoods, and down the coast back to San Francisco by Monday morning.

Growing up I was familiar with the redwoods, though I had never seen them. I was aware of their heights and amazing circumferences. Sure they are big, old trees. and Yes, I wanted to see them. I’ve seen large spruce trees in Alaska. I’ve awed at the historical pics of people driving through a redwood. I felt prepared. I was a grasshopper among giants. These trees are BIG. You can’t get a pic that has any real scale to it. Your head and a shit load of bark. Even a pic with a vehicle in it only gives you, like thirty feet of tree above the vehicle. I had a hard time leaving. I stopped at every spot on the road. Some only sixty feet apart. I couldn’t get enough. Sure I smoked at most of them. The views and the darkness of the forest were enchanting almost magical, where beams of light pierces through the humid canopy, and I could explore the fern and moss covered forest floor and walk atop vast lengths of fallen redwoods. To me, it is so impressive. I’ve never felt so small, not even at the grand canyon. This was a living thing and old.
As I left, I saw smaller patched of big trees and made my way to the coast and visited a few remote beaches. I’m not so sure they are remote as they were unpopulated, more like cliffs to the ocean. I did end up following the path around the top then descended down to the water and checked it out. . The beach was about fifty feet from the water to the bottom of the cliff. Feeling Isolated, I smoked a few bowls while making some videos and snapping pics.
I’ll end up at the tops of the cliffs where there are these long natural narrow landings, not sure what to call it. Its a piece of land that is highly eroded on three sides connecting to the cliff usually having some footpath where some brave sole ventured out on. Here’s the kicker, it goes out twenty to thirty feet, with about a foot of room on both sides that goes straight down. its long and narrow and I ventured out. I could go straight forward and I did. Everything was fine. Until my imagination starts kicking into high gear. A shit ton of negative possible scenarios begins to overwhelm me and I cant turn around. I start trembling. It becomes difficult to lift my feet, for fear of falling. Nobody’s coming to save me. I attempt to lower my upper body by taking on a kneeling position. As if I felt top heavy and might tip over. Once my center of gravity was obtained. I focused on slowing down my breathing. lol. I attempted a few more times at turning around, but I just could not do it. I begin to hear people in the distant. My first thought was, help is at hand, then I thought, I don’t want them to see me like this. I believe this might have instigated more of the kneeling position. I tried reverse, like taking baby steps backwards. This was challenging also, but it will be my solution.
I took a brief moment to look in the direction of the voices and headed the other way. I’ll think I’m being slick and head for a clump of dense pine trees. It turns out these trees are twisted and uniquely sculpted by the Pacific Ocean breezes. They add so much character and interest to the area while providing a place to sit and chill. From here I’ll work my way towards the Golden Gate Bridge.

I set my GPS for a Park on this side of the Golden Gate Bridge so I could take pics of the bridge with my BFP’s, then take Pics from the other side. I met Ryan at the Park and he was down for smoking a BFP, so we did. Its pretty cool they have tent camping for free and its so close to the Bridge.
Well I decided to go to the other side to get the kind of pics I was hoping for. I took in the drive across the bridge, probably slower than I should have. I crossed it five times in one day. Only to realize that there is a fee per crossing. This was unexpected because the vehicle was not registered to me. This will get resolved but I would have preferred a pay now vs. pay later. But that would create more traffic issues, I’m sure. But I would have been aware of a fee and not go back and forth as much. I think it was the forth pass across that I saw the fee sign. lol.
In the morning it was all about Haight & Ashbury. I roamed around till the shops opened. I sat with some traveling hippies. We chatted it up for a while but had to leave as the shops began to open. I mentioned I would return and smoke them up after I visited the shops nearby.

I received text message from a guy asking me to stop by a shop and talk to his friend about my pipes, weeks earlier. Sounded like a good recommendation. Its in the Haight Ashbury area so you bet I’ll stop by. Well I got there before the store, Distractions, opened and filled orders for Head Rush and Day Dreamz. I met Josh at Distractions and told him the circumstance for my visit. He informed me that person was not there and asked to see a pipe. I showed him the last one in my back pack. He loved it. I like to ask people if they want to smoke. Maybe more so in places you think they might decline. This seems to add to the excitement. He posted a note on the door, Be Back I fifteen minutes and we smoked a bowl in the back. I was so happy to smoke in the Haight and Ashbury area I gave him a BFP. I really liked hanging out with him. I’ll leave and do sales and he will text me saying I left my weed there. I’ll pick it up and give him a bowl for his honesty, I love Honesty. However, I will forget to meet up with the Hippies.

I received a call asking me to return home to Colorado. I mentioned I would return asap with the exception of me visiting Lake Tahoe on my way. I will admit, I paid for a car wash when I filled up and realized halfway through NV. I didn’t get it washed. The views were distracting and the lake was choppy.

I’ll receive a call now saying my presence is no longer required and I headed to Montana where there are few young ladies I love to visit with.
