Road trip to the Cape

On a previous Adventure to the Northeast. My friend Elle had asked me to visit Provincetown, Mass. However, I sold out of BFP’s in Connecticut and headed back West. I regretted not making it to P-town. So I promised I would return that way and visit the area and now a friend of hers also. Then Elle wants me to visit her friend Nancy in Oklahoma. I started thinking, maybe another time. Like an OK, TX, NM trip. I even promised a Facebook friend that I would visit him in Canada last time too. Another good friend, Dave, wanted me to visit him and his family in Minneapolis. Even though it to was out of my way, I couldn’t say no. My path may wonder, but I enjoy the journey.

NM Clovis site

So, I headed to Oklahoma but decided to make a stop at Clovis, NM. Clovis first! lol.  Google Maps said they would be open till 5. So I check the mileage and times. I would arrive close to four in the afternoon. That sounded good to me. I would have about an hour to visit the site. I arrived at 4:10 pm and pull up to a locked gate where a sign clearly says 9-4. Needless to say I was disappointed. Nancy was expecting me in Oklahoma and offered her couch to me. I felt grateful and drove faster knowing I would arrive later than expected.  Along the way, I received a text stating she was going to bed and would talk to me in the morning. I found a rest area and called it a night.

In the morning we met up at her work, Solid Pharms, where she manages three green houses. She has developed a few cannabis breeds she is very proud of and gave me the tour. I’m obviously not management material cause I have difficulty watching people work, so I dug in and helped out. I really like feeling useful. After smoking with the crew and checking out their concentration area, I was impressed with their operation. I wished them well and I continued on with my adventure.

I drove north towards Minneapolis and stayed the night in Kansas. I hit the stores along the way; MO, IA, and MN. Before I reached my friend Dave’s place. Dave’s not here, man. lol. Because he wasn’t home, I stopped to get a bite at White Castle. While there, the piped in music stopped and a tornado warning was going off alerting people of a possible Tornado. Even my phone sent an alert. I called Dave after eating and he was home so I went to his house. He wasn’t worried or alarmed about the weather so I paid it no mind. I met his adorable boys. Its been a while since I’ve seen him and his boys. They sure do grow fast. His wife was as lovely as when I saw her last.

The next morning I traveled east. Along the way, there was total destruction around the highway for a several miles. Cop cars and firetrucks everywhere. I can see where the tornado ended up touching down at. I drove past in awe. I saw piles of debris neatly stacked beside the roads. I’ll make it to WI and visit a store I had BFP’s in before.

PPG, Puff Puff Glass had moved across the street and no longer carried the larger amount of disc golf stuff. But Erin was interested in getting more BFP’s. They still have three affectionate cats that watch over the store. PPG will be the only store that I was able to make the pussy purr at. lol.

Now to revisit Green bay. I visited Greg at Glass Monkey. It took a while due to it being his day off and all. But he was cool about coming down to the store to see me. While bringing in boxes of BFP’s for them to choose from, I met his employees Jerry and Clair. Clair is an older woman who radiates goodness. I would compare her to Betty White. I just fell in love with her personality.  I wanted to be in Chicago before the night ended and had to leave. I did skip Milwaukee in my rush to Chicago.

I’ll arrive just after midnight to meet up with Joey, an old college classmate. He knew just the late night spot to go eat at, Maxwell Street Depot, open 24 hrs. After a couple pork chop sandwiches, we were ready to smoke another bowl. It’s funny to me but when I know people in certain town. I tend to skip doing sales because I end up partying with them, then I leave for the next town, thinking I’ll do it on the way back because I’m going back that way. but when I stop by on the way back I’m out of BFP’s. So we just party on and I leave. lol. Like I said, it’s funny to me. Well I haven’t seen the Cloud Gate or more commonly known as the BEAN. but I did do sales. Only cause Joey had to work. but the word on the street was “the owner is out of town”. Their loss, not mine.

Lucia’s Smoke Shop

This reply happens most of the day until I meet Jasmine and Patrick at St. Lucia’s Smoke Shop they loved my BFP’s and think their customers would too. This really picks me up. I’ll end the day with “can you come back in the morning?” I assured him that I would. Tom, Joeys roommate, just returned from Amsterdam and we smoked and joked listening to his adventures. Joey had to work early. I said, I’ll see you on my way back through. So when I go to take a shower, the curtain is fucked up. It’s a free standing tub with a curtain that has to go all the way around the tub. It’s suppose to be suspended above the tub. Well I fixed it. I think they just mop up the execess water up with their towels. IDK. I was planning on taking a long shower. Smelling fresh, I headed to Roots Smoke Shop. Hooked Omar up with some sweet BFP’s.

I left Chicago knowing I would be back. I was trying to get my pipes as far east as possible. I’ll stop at Smoke City in Hobart, Indiana were I meet Becky, Anthony and Jacob. You can tell they like their jobs. It’s a large store that’s well stocked.

I drive towards Kalamazoo, were I met up with a Facebook friend that I have visited once before. Tonya and Derreck are so cool. They purchased some pipes and took them to the electric forest and showed me some of the footage they shot. Inside I felt a bit jealous. Here’s why. It’s the look on peoples faces when they first recognize it as a Big Fucking Pipe. I’ve walked past cops that don’t recognize it as a pipe, let alone a giant one. It’s huge!! I love to watch people react with such amazement and awe. I have become hooked on peoples initial reaction. That may be why I feel the need to travel across America selling my BFP’s. It was dark and I still wanted to get to Detroit.

Tonya and Derreck

Ryan was expecting me earlier. However, I’ll roll in at eleven and we stay up smoking and laughing. My plans are to hang out with Ryan for the weekend. So I slept in. Ryan had plans with his friends and they included me in on the fun. After sleeping in we went to breakfast-lunch. He was going to meet friends at the Oktoberfest. I rarely drink anymore. but tonight I’m not driving. So upon entering I purchase twelve tickets for beers, six tix per beer. Fine and good. Ryan does the same. on the way to get the beers he receives a call and Ryan says, we are in the wrong place and we go next door to a brewery, I think? anyway we all meet up and everyone orders a beer. In my mind I already paid for two. I would like to drink those. but I declined ordering a beer and chatted along with everyone. A half hour into conversation, I have to pee. While returning, I head for the door and back to the Oktoberfest and collect my two beers. I slam one down and look around for someone in costume to take a pic with. I find willing participants and get me an Oktoberfest photo. I gave them the second beer and raced back to the brewery.

Oktoberfest

The next day we went to the Renaissance Fair. The plan is to meet his friends prior to parking. They are old friends of Ryans, who married after highschool. They had a coupon for me. Both were so much fun to hang out with. They were dressed for the occation. They said it’s there favorite time of year, Halloween and they love to dress up. It was a long dirt trail to the entrance. He was shopping for more gear for his outfit and his wife was taking photos of people. They visit every year and knew or recognized the people and their roles like the laundry ladies and the whistling trolls. Ryan purchased a sword, let me fill you in. He has axes and blades of all sorts already at his house. Well the weather changed and rain was the forcast. After the mushrooms, I didn’t mind the rain so much. I had my hoodie and backpack on with a BFP in it, just in case the oppotunity should arise. But inside the bag, I use a large piece of fabric to pad the BFP. Well she was poorly clothed for rain and I gave her the fabric. She wrapped herself up and appeared warmer and happier. We ate chili out of bread bowls. They never whined. I really felt honored to have met them. The long trail to the car was a muddy mess. It was a high traffic foot trail. I’ll happily give them a BFP. Ryan and I head back to Detroit. While Ryan ran errands, I went and did laundry in preperation of leaving.

renaissance fair

I took off in the morning and send a text to Cleaveland, “want to Wake and Bake?” the reply was, “have to work till five”. I decided to do the stores on the way out of Detroit, MI. My first sale was at Tobacco Palace Head Shop. Jackson picked a couple BFP’s and I was happy to have pipes in the Detroit area.

Tobacco Palace Head Shop.

Figuring if I finished Michigan then do Toledo, for the first time, It may be close to five when I get to the Cleaveland area. I text Cleaveland that, I may be in the area around that time. If its close to where we all met before. Now, I understood that the house we all met in was just a friends place. See, I told them prior to my first visit, that they may need to invite some people to help smoke the BFP. They came up with a place and time and I showed up. Anyways, I’ll work my way through Toledo and Northern Ohio till five waiting to hear back from Cleavland. By seven I was done waiting for a response. I felt I had to text that I could no longer stay in the area and proceeded to PA. Cool people, I would have enjoyed smoking with them again. It’s not because I didn’t try and I will regret later on not visiting three people.

On the way to Buffalo I hit a store that had ciggerettes Advertised. I went inside and asked for my brand and they replied we dont sell name brand smokes. The whole store was filled with ciggerettes. I didn’t know which one to choose. I remarked about it and he offer me a sample one of full flovor and I proceeded outside to smoke it. Once I was satisfied. I purchased a carton and returned to the car. Twenty dollars a carton? I went back in and purchased two more cartons.

Prior to Buffalo, I tried to contact John in Lockport. I had a plan. I needed John to hold my inventory, while I went to Canada. I didn’t want any headaches over my artwork coming or going across the border. John agreed, but there were some catches. John had been forclosed on due to taxes. He paid the place off, but he quit paying the taxes along time ago and reciently they booted him out and said he way tresspassing. He will Laywer up and get thrirty day to get out. His house was pertetual christmas. There was christmas trees and trains, nativity, everything. Collectable stuff everywhere, up stairs and down. Amazing and Unique Items from metal and wood to ceramic and glass. He said it was cool for me to unload the BFP’s, but the door won’t lock. I was OK with it. He didn’t seemed worried. I unloaded the BFP’s, except for one box. I wanted Kevin in Canada to choose the one he liked.

I set google maps with Kevin’s address in Canada. It gives me a clear path to his place. It’s raining as I apporoached the border. Surprise, I forgot my Passport but I checked online and it was ok as long as I wasnt flying in. But I did have to play twenty questions at the gate, then I was told to park over there and they handed me a slip of paper. I really thought they might suspect me of something, oh boy! However, I parked by the building and looked around thinking I would be met by somebody who would bring out dogs and rip my vechile apart. So I walked towards a vechicle that looked like someone might be there to accept the paper. It looked like a food truck, then I thought. Did they want me to go inside? I went inside and it was the right place. They accepted my ticket and told me to have a seat. I waited ten minutes and was called to the counter, where I repeated my answers from the first interrigator. I told them I was a Potter, I was visiting a facebook friend in Cananda while on a roadtrip that passed by his way. They asked if I planned on taking him with me to Boston, I said No. I’m just visiting and continueing my journey. They will let me in after attempting to trip up my story several times.

I drive for two hours in the pouring rain, trying to read the speed limit signs and finding the km on my speedometer, its really small on my dash. I get there and meet kevin. He invites me in and I was greeted by such a lovable dog and see his amazing collection of pipes and bongs. I’ll open the box and let him pick his BFP. He loads it and we begin smoking and he brings up that Hightimes has a shop in town. I did want to go and take a pic but I was having fun visiting instead. Maybe on the next trip. lol. He has a cool tomahawk pipe we smoked and his everyday waterfall. We smoked it and I said, I wanted to make one at home. Because it was totally recyclable and I have a passion for recycling soda bottles. I use them mostly in the garden. So, we made a quick video of him explaining it for me. I’ll sign Kevins BFP and head out.

Now as I’m leaving, my phone won’t give me directions to the Border. I don’t get Canadian coverage. It’s still raining and I drive for a block to see which way I was heading, lol, in the wrong direction. I’ll use this technique to find a border crossing. LOL However not the one I entered through. And again another short Interrigation and I’m back in the USA. I’ll head to lockport to secure my BFP’s, and visit with John.

I’ll pick John up at the local bar and head back to his place. I reload the wagon and smoke a bowl with John. He makes light of his situation, reminding me of his trip hiking the Appalachian trail in one season. Now that is a big feat to accomplish. I followed his posts and was impressed with his stories of adventure. He had it down to carring only ten pounds of gear plus food and beverages. John likes to drink and hike. My kinda guy. He made a little burner with aluminum cans, has a light down blanket, and rain gear. He felt he no longer needed to have all the other possesions in his life. But with that said, He asked if I would help him pack up the house. It is impressive to see all the unique things he has collected over the years. He has no real way to pad anything but I use what i can. We packed a bowl and I started taping boxes together and got a latter and began systimaticly packing shelves into boxes. Dismantling Christmas. Parking trains into boxes that made me wondered if they would ever ride the rails again. He jokingly says, “I’m going to give my daughter four boxes at every holiday and birthday”. I laugh as I continue packing. The next morning his buddy brings a trailer for us to move Johns stuff to a storage unit. John had to work that morning from four to nine. I’ll get up and find a warning from lockport code inforcement stating I couldn’t park in the yard. Thats were I was told to park, lol. John will arrive after work, but the rain is keeping us from loading the trailer. We continue packing boxes. This will be a full load. We loaded the trailer just prior to his buddies arrival, and take it to the storage. The trailer is replaced and we keep packing bowls and boxes. At the end of the day we had packed all the boxes available and the rest was mostly furniture and stuff to be thrown out. What an accomplishment. You could see a sigh of relief on his face. He just needed to load it on the trailer and put it in the storage unit. I wished him well and headed east.

wise guys

‎I’ll Find my way to Rochester, NY. It’ll be dark, but The stores are still open. I visited Lori at Wise Guys Smoke Shop, who was happy to have some for her store. I’ll continue on down the road to Mad Hatter’s Hide Away and Met Nick. The State of New York put a temporary Ban on E-cigs and the media was there filming a news story. So there was some distractions, but they got a few BFP’s to go with their store. After Syracuse I started looking for a place to rest for the night.

mad hatters hide away

The following morning drive was wonderful. A few trees were just starting to change colors. It looked cool over the rolling hills with little Farms tucked in. I’ll arrive in Schenectady, NY by eleven and visit 20 West Smoke Shop, this was the quickest sale I ever made. I even told them so. He purchased one and I met his friend and I was Off.

northern lights

Albany was just down the road. I’ll stop at Northern Lights. I usually say “Do you think this is something your customers would be Interested in?” But I do run into places where the person managing the store doesn’t do the purchasing. I then say “would you like to See my Big Fucking Pipes? If you think they are cool, tell your boss. If not, pretend I never stopped by.” They usually attempt to make a call or send a text with a Pic. So on this occasion, I was asked to return to Northern Lights and met Katie. She didn’t want to be in the picture. So, I posed with the BFP’s instead. I’ll run into a lot of people who would rather not be photographed. I totally understand.

42 degrees

In Glen Falls, NY I’ll Stop by 42 Degrees and meet a Missburnzie, she was helpful. she made the call and I returned to meet Marissa and Brian. This place is cool. They do glass blowing on site and teach classes. But the following weekend, they were going to have a big glass blowing event, bringing in artists from all over. I would have liked to attend that. I’m a big fan of fire. I’ll make a few stops in Vermont and press on, staying the night in New Hampshire.

owls head light house

Here is where I decided to do Maine. My last trip this way, I skipped Maine and regretted it. I’m trying to get BFP’s in every state. Its been quite the Adventure. I take the coastal road and set my sights for a few lighthouses along the way. I’ll pass a resturant with a giant lobster on the roof. I thought maybe I should splurge on a lobster. I continued towards Owls Head State Park. It had a lighthouse. I was expecting a giant column with a light on top. however the lighthouse is perched on a hill and is about two stories tall, with a ramp to the top. Not really what I was expecting. Very cool non the less.

breaker at owls head

I heard there was a breaker on the other side and drove to it. Its a granite breaker that has a lighthouse at the far end sticking in the water. The breaker is almost a mile long and in great shape. Its relatively flat and the edges are perfectly straight for the lenghth of the breaker. These Granite stones are huge and heavy. But it is somewhat sheltered from the Atlantic. I could see fishing boats moving about and I passed a street sign that had shit loads of lobster bouys. I thought I might purchase me a Lobster. Turns out the boats weren’t in and I was getting hungry.

taste of maine

I’ll find that resteraunt, A Taste of Maine and order up a lobster. It was pricier than I expected but I can say I had a Lobster in Maine. I’ll smoke a bowl afterwards feeling satisfied with my visit to Maine. I’ll stop at other stores on my way back to New Hampshire for the night.

Smoke Rings

I’ll start my day with Smoke Rings. Prior to leaving NH south towards Boston, I stop at Smoke Rings and meet Jeff. I waited patiently as he served customers. I noticed a metal support that had stickers all over it so I amused myself and checked it out. It may be a small place but he has glass from an A list of Artist. Jeffs said the owner is a glass artist also. After the deal was completed, I asked if I could put one of my stickers on the pole. He said sure. I took the boxes to the car and came back with a sticker. I was so happy. It will be this moment that will carry me through the day. I had the hardest time finding parking in Boston. I attempted to park several times but got discouraged while constantly circling the areas. I resolved to return with a different stradigy another time. Finally making it to Provincetown to meet my friends’ friend, who I’ve only heard stories about.

causeway

I continue to call the number provided, but no answer. I will leave a text stating, I am in P-Town and I’m goingto hike the causeway, hope to hear from you before I return. The causeway links one side of land to another. It was dark and parking was 24 hrs. I decided to walk the length of the causeway and hopefully I will recieve a call back. I checked the tide schedule and it was heading out. There was a quater moon which provided plenty of light to navigate the causeway. Unlike the Maine breaker by owl point, this causeway was rough. The huge granite stones may of been flat but it sure wasn’t level. You could tell this area takes a beating every now and then. It was cold and I dressed warmer, meaning I was bundled up due to the possible winds farther off shore. With my flashlight and a loaded bowl, I headed out into the unknown.

I’ll called my friend Elle to inform her that I made it to P town and could not contact her friend. I got no problem smoking more weed when I meet up with him, but this was not to be. I’ll return after a few hours and no reply from P-town and decide to find a place for the night. In the morning I wandered around until the stores on the cape opened. I humored the idea of going to Marthas Vineyard but there were only two shops on the Island. However I did want to take the ferry across just to ride the ferry. but decided to just visit the beaches.

fully baked

I’ll collect some sand for my friend who use to lived here. I thought she could sink her toes in it, as if she were there again. I even made a video of the waves hitting the beach, attempting to give her the full effect of the experience. A virtual visit so to speak. My first visit was to Fully Baked. Love the name. I’ll meet Don and he will stock the store with BFP’s. I assure him, his store will be the only one I stop at on the cape and head towards Rhode Island.

I’ll stop in Rhode Island at Smokeez Smoke Shop and Met Katrina. She will purchase a few BFP’s for her customers. What’s interesting is they offer a Delivery service which seems to be a thing for the future. The delivery van is wrapped with signage, love it. I would love to wrap my vehicle but I really don’t want to bring to much attention to myself during a road trip. lol. I’ll swing through Connecticut, then pop out into Massachusetts.

ead shop

In West Springfield, I’ll head to The Head Shop and meet Chris. The rain doesn’t discourage me and I enjoy the laid back atmosphere. I generally post where I’ve been after I’m no longer there. It will be after I leave and post my progress that I receive a text asking if I was in West Springfield. It was the person from Boston. I had previously asked for an address so I could meet her in Boston. Turns out she lives in Springfield. She thought she would drive to Boston to see me. By the time I get her message I am past Albany and heading West. This will be a disappointment for both of us. I really looked forward to meeting and smoking with her and her friends.

SugarMountain.biz

SugarMountain.biz is Located in Binghamton, NY. There I met Kevin. I was impressed with sugarmountain.biz cause they seemed to have it all. ATM, Rosin Presses Extraction Equipment, pipes and smoking accessories to include BFP’s. I’ll continue across NY towards Alfred.

At Hornell Hookah and Smoke Shop I met Shauna. She has no purchasing power for the store, but purchased one for her brother. It was getting late and I was getting hungry and offered to take her to dinner. At that moment her loving father came by to bring her dinner. I was amazed at him, for being such a great guy. Shauna showed the BFP to him saying its a gift for her brother/ his son. I politly said goodnight and got something to eat. I’ll stay the night in PA and head to Ohio in the morning.

Tye Dye Sky

I’ll visit Tye Dye Sky, and a few phone calls will be made. However I’ll leave and be called back. Big Thank you to Racheal and Paul. This is the place in Ohio to get your Tye Dye Appearel not to mention BFP’s and other smoking Accessories.

The Beadle Hut

Now it was a year or so ago I met Franny in Ohio. She had a friend that owned a smoke shop. But unfortuneatly I was unable to visit her back then. So now it’s make up time and I headed to The Beadle Hut in Canton to meet Chris. Wonderful person, I meet some of the best people on my trips. I’ll roll to Akron, OH only to experience the worst roads ever. It became so violent driving there that my battery terminal will become loose and when I park, my car won’t start. I’ll pop the hood and tinker around hoping its nothing serious. I will be so relieved once I get it running and back on the road. From here I head to the Safe House. My friends place in Detroit.

Tabaccoo Palace

During my travels I got a call from Tobacco Palace and they wanted more BFP’s. So when Ryan mentioned he had errands to run prior to heading north to visit friends I jumped at the oppertunity to fill the order for Tobacco Palace. I’ll meet up with Lori and she will pick out several more BFP’s for the Store. Tobacco Palace will be the only store in the Detroit area that carry BFP’s. Mostly because I would rather visit my friend than do sales. We regroup at the Safe House and go on a road trip north to visit my Facebook friend in Cass, MI.

Ryan is so patient. Together we revisit Cass, He came with me last time to visit Tina and her family. Things have improved for Tina and she will introduce me to another friend of hers and I’ll happily give him a BFP also.

We smoke and joke but we have others to see along the way. I bid them farewell and off we went.

Ryans’ friends are amazing. We visited with one friend who rolles his joints as fat as Ryans. I then realize where he gets it from. I’ll give him a BFP also. Ryan brought a Book to his friend because they both started growing with this guy back in the day. The books called, “From the black market to the stockmarket”. You can tell by how he talks about him that he was pretty significant to Ryan. We will visit another friend and smoke it up with him and later return to the Safe House. From here I head back to Chicago and party with Joey again.

I recieved a message saying, when you going to visit me? It was in Illinois, and I was leaving Chicago on the way home, so I made a point to stop. I showed up at Mathews place and hung out with his mom until he arrived. Sweet lady, told me we were not smoking weed in this house.

When Mathew arrives, we end up in the garage and fire up his new BFP. I really enjoy smoking BFP’s with their new owners. From here, I plot a course for home. On the way home I started recieving orders. I was missing the studio and was looking forward to making more BFP’s for my fellow smokers.
