Road Tripping, the Journey Begins
With a truck load of Big Fucking Pipes (BFP) and a four foot Lynard, My journey Begins. I’m Headed to Montana for several reasons, one being to market my Art and promote Lynard, and maybe get high along the way. Other reasons include, one of my Daughters is going to have twin girls,!! a friend needs a ride in that direction, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone National Park.
As for the truck, its an 85 Toyota. The tires are bald, no spare. Oil leaks causing it to overheating, so I run the heater constantly to reduce any extreme engine temps, a fuel leak but only after I stop, no radio, bad brakes and a passenger who is OK with this. She must really like adventure. Not to mention weighted down with Pipes and Pottery. Here we go.
I’m in a bit of a hurry, My daughter is having twins soon and I want to mold her baby bump, so I can make an iron sculpture of my daughter and my grandchildren. I inform her that I can’t make it to MT prior to April 20 but would be tickled if they were born on that day. As soon as 420 in Denver was over, I planned to rent a vehicle and drive north through the night, attempting to make it to the Grand Tetons prior to Sunrise. The rental wanted more money for the deposit (debit card issue), needed to deposit more money on my card, try again tomorrow which delayed my departure. I tried again with the next day only to have different issues. Fuck it I decided to take the Toyota. Desperate times call for desperate measures, gonna need more weed if I break down.
Made it to the Tetons hours after sunrise, they are Grand. Of course every great moment deserves a bowl so I pulled out Lynard. I love to take pictures of him doing normal things a pot head would do. (tourist) As it turned out the South gate of Yellowstone was closed till May 8, so we mapped it out and changed our route.
We tried to go around Yellowstone to the west and ended up driving up a pass that had a 10% grade.I had second gear winding out and barely moving, not thinking the truck was going to make it, I turned around only to be haunted by the brakes. We ended up in Idaho, once back on course, we decided to stay the night in West Yellowstone.
We drove through parts of Yellowstone, saw moose, bison, elk, deer and a chipmunk. Did some sight seeing and Photo ops, then I drove her to her destination. What a great travel partner, I was Blessed to have her. Thank you Shannon!
I will arrive in Bozeman, eager to see my daughters, its been a while and I brought all sorts of stuff for them, mostly Pottery. I spent longer than expected with them and I am a happier man for it. I did make a couple molds of my pregnant daughters’ Belly. Watched the babies move around in her belly, it reminded me that I missed her birth, due to being stationed in Korea at the time. I never cut the umbilical cord with this one, maybe thats why we are so close. My daughter and her Boyfriend will go with me to the local head shops and be surprised at the reaction people have when they see the BFP’s. For me this is normal, but it blew them away. They really are something to see, but another to behold. I am proud to say Bozeman head shops are stocked up on BFP’s.
Time to Leave, I dislike this part so much. I fix my spare tire. I somehow wanted her to go into labor . Something to make me stay. But I needed to get things done. I have a lot of sales calls to make along the way and my passenger left a hand drawn portrait of her sister in my truck. So, I decided to drop it off and return to Yellowstone. I love hot springs and this place seemed like the mother of geothermal activity, surely there was a primitive hot spring in the area. After a few corrections, I find the area, Boiling River. Its a small river of hot water that finds its way into Gardiner River. It’s there that the water mixes, one is HOT the other is frigid cold. Just a bit farther down, it is Wonderful. I will meet some cool people there from Telluride and British Columbia. Yes, I got Yellow Stoned. Lol
With the Hot Springs behind me, I go from head shop to head shop selling my Pipes. I meet cool and interesting people along the way, most with words of encouragement and big grins. I’ll work my way home to Denver, stopping in Longmont to visit my friends Jill and Joe. I wanted to check out her garden, share my adventures and tell her about my current Iron Project.
Now, I plan on visiting Soon. Once they are Born. Anybody want to take a road trip?
