My 4/20, Day of a Pot Smoking Artist
How to Start the Day? You Guessed it, Wake and Bake! It seems I have no problem making plans, sticking to it is the difficult part. Let’s face it, shit happens or I forget what day it is. The list of excuses goes on, but I try to do what I can. Sometimes, it works best if I play it by ear. I ended up getting a lot accomplished though. I spent the morning putting the finishing touches on a four foot Lynard that is going with me on a road trip to Montana the next day 4/21. So I need to paint and let it dry before morning.
Now its off to the High Times Cannabis Cup at the Denver Mart. I did great there last year. Parked under a Bridge and walked quite a distance to get to the entrance. I love showing people my Big Fucking Pipe. BFP. Once I parked I got my stuff together and asked these three guys if the want to smoke a bowl. That’s when I pull it out and watch as there eyes light up, then glaze over when I load it. They must of thought they hit the Jackpot.
We smoked under the bridge and off they go, with big shit eating grins on their faces. I meander down the road, remember I have a long way to go. I run into a group by a house and they seem to be chatting with each other, so I comment, “Can I join you?” I step right up and they see my Pipe and we swap. I let them check out the Pipe and they pass me the joint. So I ask, Do ya’ll want to smoke a bowl? pointing at the BFP. They laughed and chuckled and I loaded it. But I didn’t load it with as much as under the bridge. I think I just wanted to smoke once I parked to get my mind right. Well, this group was fun to smoke with. Of course, I try to take pic’s of people smoking them and they love getting them taken.
I will work my way to the entrance area. There were some changes since last years Cannabis Cup as far as lines, entrances, parking, ect… I sold a few and was feeling pretty good about it since the police did not bother me and let me tell you I’m loud, and Proud of my Product, I make them!! Well it seems their job was to direct traffic and I was on the corner at the crosswalk. A cop car rolled up on the grass and parked followed by a chirp of the siren. I wasn’t sure what to expect, will I be asked to leave? It seems they were there to relieve the other cops and all went well. I met some cool motherfuckers on that corner. Unlike last year, I couldn’t smoke people up in the line because the law could see me clearly.
I will get a phone call from my current mentor and boss, asking if I forgot that we were loading the kiln today. I said I’ll be right there. It took me longer to walk to my car than to drive to the Studio at 747 Santa Fe. I loaded the Kiln, which took an hour and a half. With that done, I went to school where they were having an Iron Pour. I spent the week prior making molds for the pour and dropped them off earlier during the 420 weekend. I wasn’t sure I was going to make it. Last year was the first Iron pour i have missed since it began in 2004, but this is my day 4/20. I’m surrounded by like minded People. It’s my target audience!! but I knew I wasn’t going to find better parking than before, did I mention I walked for some distance earlier. So, I decided to participate and pour some molds. It wasn’t a big performance as some are. This was a smaller intimate pour to get work done prior to the end of the semester. I found it to be pleasant and productive. I really enjoy being apart of it. Thank you! I didn’t participate in the final clean up the next day. My plans, had me going to Montana. I did as much as possible prior to taking off. I may have missed some Opportunities and financial gains, meeting the right people at the right place, but you can bet, I won’t stop making Lynards!
